Saw
an adult coyote go through the backyard about 9:00 a.m., apparently
foraging for food. A lot of the snow has melted with temperatures
a balmy 40 degrees.
Still
in the deep freeze. -10F this morning, real temperature.

Wind
is gusting around the house at 20 mph. Slight dusting of snow.

Temperature
is 21 - wind chill of 9. Low tonight will be 9. Cat is staying indoors. Smart
cat.
Cats
need vacations, too. This cat took
it upon herself to take one.
I'm
glad this month is drawing to a close. It's been a bit tumultuous.
More
hyacinths budding - this time in the snow.
Today,
sitting at a stop light on a four-lane, all of us in traffice
were dropped into a scene from a movie. Three police cars with
lights flashing approached the intersection from the cross street.
Two turned left and one turned right, hesitated and turned into
a business drive on the right. Seconds later, the other two came
back through the intersection. The third car joined them. An
ambulance with lights flashing turned the corner 1/8 mile ahead,
coming toward the police cars. Immediately the three police cars
turned to the left in the middle of the street, executed a perfect
three-point turn in synchrony and drove back through the intersection,
escorting the ambulance. The entire scene took the amount of
time that we sat through the stop light. Time went into slow
motion and then snapped back into real time when the light turned
green.
