The
end of the month
I'm
glad this month is drawing to a close. It's been a bit tumultuous.
More
hyacinths budding - this time in the snow.

Surreal
moment
Today,
sitting at a stop light on a four-lane, all of us in traffice were
dropped into a scene from a movie. Three police cars with lights
flashing approached the intersection from the cross street. Two
turned left and one turned right, hesitated and turned into a business
drive on the right. Seconds later, the other two came back through
the intersection. The third car joined them. An ambulance with
lights flashing turned the corner 1/8 mile ahead, coming toward
the police cars. Immediately the three police cars turned to the
left in the middle of the street, executed a perfect three-point
turn in synchrony and drove back through the intersection, escorting
the ambulance. The entire scene took the amount of time that we
sat through the stop light. Time went into slow motion and then
snapped back into real time when the light turned green.

Movie Review
No shopping
today, other than for a powerstrip and office supplies.
Turkey
The
last of the turkey posts.

Thanksgiving
The
Muse came by this morning bearing gifts. Happy day.
Turkeys
Why
did the turkey cross the road?
It was the chicken's day off.
Why
did the police arrest the turkey?
They suspected fowl play.

Thaw.

Grey
and cold
No
snow, a little rain and a lot of leaden sky.
A
week of running around
It's
been a week of running around from place to place. Made arrangements
today for the Thanksgiving dinner. A pleasant experience with live
accordian and guitar music in the background at the local food coop.
Three
hyacinths are now growing in the flowerpot that I moved inside. Rain
and snow forecast for tonight.
To
warmer climes
Saw
my mother and my sister off on a flight from KC to South Carolina
this morning so Mother can winter in a warmer climate. The cold snap
yesterday with bitterly cold north winds signalled the beginning
of winter here.
The
first snow of the season
Up
before sunrise to Lawrence, then Topeka for new tires. A snowstorm
blew through for a half hour while I was there; my friend gave birth
to her first child in the same city during the snowstorm, unbeknowst
to me.
Internet
service interrupted
The
internet service provider moved their offices on Tuesday. The net
went down and coincidentally, the router died. Temporary fix in place.
Truth
is stranger than fiction
Hyacinth
bulb blooming in the yard in November??!!!
Won't
catch me complaining.
First
turkey of the season
Turned
out pretty well. Very simple.
The
jasmine is blooming in the house, releasing the great powers of its
scent along with aroma of the roasting turkey.
Bad
day at the office
Internet
went down right off the bat. The electricity went off. The shredder
fried. The Palm software stopped working. Backed into the trashcan
on the way out of the drive (it was dark). Went to the grocery store
and managed to topple over an entire temporary display of tin foil
pans.
No
small children or animals were harmed.
New
month - kickoff to the holidays.
